Trader Joe's Chickenless Crispy Tenders

These are entirely satisfactory--but nothing more. Gardein's fake-chicken tenders are better in both flavor and texture.

Will I buy it again?

I might if I'm in a situation where I need it and don't feel like stopping at a second grocery store. But it's the kind of thing for which I'll generally keep a package of the better brand in the freezer all the time, so this probably won't happen often, if ever.

  1. Fun fact, these are actually rebranded Gardein chickenless strips. Interesting how packaging can trick us, eh?

    1. What is your source for this information?

    2. No source, simply that the ingredients are exactly the same in each, including Gardein's kamut flour blend.

  2. Yeah they are gardein. Same exact nutrition and ingredients in exact same order. Note TJs serving is 3pcs and gardein lists as two

  3. We don't eat fake meat. We don't eat tofu, tempeh either. LOL...I'm half Japanese. But, I was born in the US and raised in the South. The JR, stands for my private blog...The Japanese Redneck.

Up until about 20 years ago, there was not the prevalence of Oriental food available like it is now. So I did not grow up with soy products. We ate good ol southern home cooking.

  4. Grump, why are you maintaining radio silence on this? Researching claims or embarrassed that your taste buds were tricked?

    1. I'm waiting for a chance to try them side by side, with Nina around to give a second opinion.

  5. I couldn't find these in the store today. Asked an employee, he looked in the computer and said they were looking for a different supplier. So whenever they come back, they're likely to be at least slightly different.
