Trader Joe's Pecorino Romano Raw Sheep's Milk Cheese

This is, to me, indistinguishable from any other Romano cheese I've had. It's salty, and hard to the point of brittleness. It's not very well suited to eating sliced on crackers, which is what I want from a block of cheese. I'm sure it would do well grated on pasta, but I'm lazy enough that I buy pre-shredded cheeses when I want to do that.

Will I buy it again?

No.

  1. Bought this today for alla grecia recipe, and is half way authentic tasting to another 1/4 pecorino romano block purchased from the local italian market deli. Main difference being freshness (where freshness would be a clarity of flavor plus intensity of flavor) and saltiness with Trader Joes' lacking the former while compensating through the latter. Although twice as good as anything found in a Kroger etc. – at near the same price of around 10/lb seek it from Trader Joe only when business hours would otherwise ruin the days' schedule
